As the boys are with their mother this weekend, Michelle and I, are planning our day off. The house in clean, the Thanksgiving leftovers are put away, so it’s a day simply, to enjoy. The weather in Springfield will be a balmy 60 degrees, and I am certain a motorcycle ride is in the mix, but no plans beyond that.

Finished work a little later than I had anticipated. But business is GOOD! As they say, “You have to make hay while the sun is shining”. Ate a little dinner, and started making some preparations for tomorrows Thanksgiving dinner. Michelle’s mom and dad are coming around noon. We will eat drink and be merry.

Have families lost the art of eating together? Here’s an exerpt…

The weather was a bit chilly today. But I spent the day putting my yard to bed for the winter. Cleaned out the gardens, mulched leaves, placed a new tarp on the dogs kennel, put out his heated water bowl. Had a fire in the fire pit, smoked my pipe and had a beer! Not a bad day!

As we begin our week of Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking about the blessings in my life. Here’s a few items on my list… My health; last year I spent Thanksgiving, in the Intensive Care Unit of our local hospital, just hours away from death. I am now healthy, and thankful. My Children; today, while grocery shopping, I ran into the mother, of a kid, who used to hang out with my boys. He is now being kicked out of the house, and is causing a great deal of distress in that family. This conversation made me sad for his mother, yet thankful! My wife; a compassionate, fun loving woman, who constantly believes the best about people. I think of her and I am thankful. Meaningful work; employment that allows a good living, and serves people as well. I am thankful.
