Enjoy The Redheads While You Can

Redheads are so sexy! What guy in his right mind wouldn’t agree with that! But according to one study redheads may soon be extinct!

Ramblings

The car business continues to stay steady this month and I predict we will have a strong finish for August. Which is good for me!

Today’s weather is to be near 100 degrees. (Love it).

My ex wife and many of her family are traveling from Cleveland and Columbus tonight to watch Ethan play football. (fortunately we all get along great).

Victims

“A benchmark of emotional management and responsibility is the realization that our past can no longer be blamed for our actions in the present.”
Doc Childe and Howard Martin

“People spend too much time finding other people to blame, too much energy finding excuses for not being what they are capable of being, and not enough energy putting themselves on the line, growing out of the past, and getting on with their lives.”
J. Michael Straczynski

read a great post on victimization by Scott Williams.

The Right Place, At The Right Time.

One of the things that separates successful people from others, is the number of opportunities afforded them. “Success breeds success” because there are so many more chances to be successful. As I look back on my life, each time I was presented an opportunity, and took it, I moved to another level. Granted, personal responsibility has a great deal to do with how you handle the opportunity. You must be prepared, watchful, and courageous, when the door opens. But you still need the opportunity! In days gone by, I to muttered to myself, “I am always in the right place at the right time“! The time has come to begin rehearsing these words to myself again.

Day Off!

I took the day off and didn’t play golf! Very unusual for me, normally I have a standing tee time at 11:00 a.m. but not today. I haven’t been home much in recent days, so I decided to stay around the house this morning and try to accomplish a few things. Here’s the run down…

Brought Michelle coffee in bed and we chatted for a while.
Talked with Ethan before he left for school.
Straightened the house.
Walked Dakota (Alaskan Malamute).
Fixed a lamp in the living room.
Haircut (My hair is almost fully gray now).
Fixed Brake light on Jonathan’s motorcycle.
Cooked dinner ( Chicken Alfredo).
Rode to Jackass Flats. (A couple got married on stage tonight).
Left Jackass Flats and road around Dayton Ohio for awhile.

I enjoyed the day and I am ready for a good night sleep.

What Do You Use As Your Moral Compass?

Recently I was questioned about the foundations of my life. What aided me in making the tough decisions?, Where did I turn in times of grief and sorrow?, My philosophy on how I parented my sons? How I respond to humanity, to the environment? How I feel about God? My response was the Bible. It is the bedrock of all I do. I didn’t say I always did it the Bible way. Far from it! But it was the most influential teacher in fashioning the man I am today. I am far from perfect, I have many flaws and a multitude of scars to prove it. But when faced with most of life’s situations, my mind instantly ask, “What does the scripture teach about this?” So I pose the same question to you. What do you use as the foundation for your life? What is your moral compass?

The Sale

The Miller’s are back! I can see the middle aged couple returning from their test drive, and by the length of the drive, I can assume they liked the vehicle. I walk from my office and welcome them back with a warm and sincere smile. “Rides great” the gentleman declares, seconded by his wife with the nodding of her head. “Your upcoming trip to Tennessee, will be your most comfortable yet” I chime in, as I proceed to reiterate the features of the climate control, and eight way power seats.

“Who’s name will we be titling your new vehicle in? Jerry’s or Sandy’s”? “Oh, Jerry’s name”, was the reply, and with that question, I had just closed the deal. Forty-five minutes later, this nice couple was driving off my lot in a car that will take them all over the country in safety and comfort. Everyone is happy!

A Lazy Morning

I placed my wife’s coffee on her bedside table, then walked around to my side of the bed and crawled in. She sat up, and after taking her first sip, said that is the type of morning she would like to stay home and scrap book all day. Indeed, it is that type of morning; warm and dreary, with a gentle rain hitting softly against the window. A perfect morning to lazily read the paper, write a letter, or just sleep in.
