The Garage: There’s No Place Like Home.
Written by rick on May 4, 2008 – 9:17 am -I have spent the past few evenings in my garage fitting my bike for the trip.
- seating adjustments
- suspension adjustments
- adding extensions for the tank bag.
- placing my sheepskin seat cover on (sweet!)
- oil change
- other misc.
While tinkering around in there I have enjoyed a couple bottles of Foster’s, and a pleasant cigar or two, the company of my sons, and a couple buddies. Not bad!

I remember many an “important” conversation with my boys. A boy on one side of the bike and me on the other. It was always easier for them to share what was on their mind with a motorcycle between us. They didn’t have to look directly at me. A lot of times there wasn’t really anything needed by the bike but I’d always find something to “adjust”. Your post brought back some great times. Thanks!

irondad: Thanks for sharing your story. I wouldn’t trade those times for anything in the world.
Mrs. Road Captain: It’s the stuff real life is made of.

Let us hear from you if you get to Alabama. I remember you mentioning the South is on your route. Ride safe and enjoy the journey.
