The Garage: There’s No Place Like Home.

Written by rick on May 4, 2008 – 9:17 am -

I have spent the past few evenings in my garage fitting my bike for the trip.

  • seating adjustments
  • suspension adjustments
  • adding extensions for the tank bag.
  • placing my sheepskin seat cover on (sweet!)
  • oil change
  • other misc.

While tinkering around in there I have enjoyed a couple bottles of Foster’s, and a pleasant cigar or two, the company of my sons, and a couple buddies.  Not  bad!

I remember many an “important” conversation with my boys. A boy on one side of the bike and me on the other. It was always easier for them to share what was on their mind with a motorcycle between us. They didn’t have to look directly at me. A lot of times there wasn’t really anything needed by the bike but I’d always find something to “adjust”. Your post brought back some great times. Thanks!

That’s what the good stuff is made of…

irondad: Thanks for sharing your story. I wouldn’t trade those times for anything in the world.

Mrs. Road Captain: It’s the stuff real life is made of.

Let us hear from you if you get to Alabama. I remember you mentioning the South is on your route. Ride safe and enjoy the journey.

I most certainly will do that!
