  • Rear tired arrived for Jonathan’s bike.

  • $3400 will buy you a super nice Triumph Daytona 1200.

Electronic problems limited throttle to 70% in the first race in the lower gears, making the bike feel like a 600 out of the corners. There was no way to hang with the 1198cc Ducati or the V-4 Aprilia, and I had to settle for what I could get.

The second race I didn’t get a good start but the bike was working better. Rea gave me some problems, he was pretty wild out there. I got past him and I started to get my act together and closed on Simoncelli and Biaggi. I was committed to a corner line when Simo stuffed inside Max making Max stand up and cut across my line. I was committed, and had the option to hold the line and probably collide with Max or go into the gravel. I chose the latter. I had another off track excursion when I closed on Byrne and he braked unexpectedly when I was right on his tail. I felt lucky to get out of there in one piece with fifth place.

Ben: Thanks for the info. It was obvious something was amiss with the bike and it had to be terribly frustrating. We enjoy watching you race and are hopeful you will regain the lead in the points race.
