Tattoos In The Work Place! What Do You Think?

thumbnailcaedhzq8.jpgA bartender at our neighborhood Pub was told by management she would not be able to move up in the company due to her tattoos.  She is an articulate woman, with a tastefully done tribal bracelet on her left wrist.  The markings are in no way gaudy or offensive.  I was surprised to hear that she would not be considered for any promotion based on her markings.  I work in sales and understand the importance of presentation when dealing with the public, but perhaps the Tattoo Nazis should look at this on a case by case basis instead of a blanket legislation.  What’s your take on tattoos in the workplace?

Here’s a USA Today article pertaining to this issue.

One of those Really Good Days

Sipping my first cup of coffee as I sit down to write this post.  I can feel the cool air gently blowing through the partial raised window.  Looks like another gorgeous day!  I spent most of Wednesday cleaning up my yard in the aftermath of Sunday’s windstorm.  With nothing pressing, and in no hurry to complete the task, I enjoyed a couple cigars as I leisurely went about the clean up effort.  When my wife came home from work we jumped on the RT and rode for an hour and half.  It was a cool and quiet ride as we enjoyed one another’s company and the beautiful scenery, enhanced by a brilliant, setting sun.  One of those really good days!

Damn RSS Button!

1020206_fastest_writer_on_the_world.jpgAs you can tell, I am continuing to mess around with a Wordpress theme.  I was content with the last one, but my friend,  Atlas Rider, informed me the RSS subscription button wasn’t working, and I could not find the problem.   My wife told me I would never be happy with a theme and that everyone should get used to the ever-changing skins.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to the site I encourage you to do so, as I update daily and sometimes several times daily.

I Need A Ride!

I make my living in the car business, and as you may have heard, things are a little unsettled right now.  Oh, it’s not that we aren’t making money, we simply are working much harder for less of it.  This week has been especially taxing as it is the last week of the month and we are pushing extremely hard to salvage it.

This morning I awakened, and  felt as if I could sleep another 8 hours, but it was time to get moving.   After my morning routine, I headed out the door and jumped on the bike, immediately a peace came over me, and I felt, be it only for a moment, all was well!

5 Things I like To Do On My Porch

16539017_f0397633a3_m.jpgAfter work I love to grill out, and while waiting for the food to cook, I park my rear on the patio.  Here’s five things I love to do while sitting on my patio…

1.  Drink a “Killian’s“, OK, 2!

2.  Read “Rider” magazine.

3.  Smoke a “Punch” cigar.  Heck, any cigar!

4. Talk with my wife and sons.

5. Play with the mutt.

What do you like to do when you get home from work?

No Ties!

Fathers Day around our house turned out to be a Super day!  After completing a chore, or two, we joined Michelles’ mom and dad for lunch.  Then the boys and I headed out for a ride.

We jumped on St. Rt. 68 heading North, travelling through a couple small towns, Urbana, and Bellefontaine, and a couple even smaller ones called, West Liberty, and Russell’s Point.  We soon arrived at the lake and simply hung out.  We sat at McDonald’s watching the boats pull in and out, caught up on the latest happenings in one another’s lives, and laughed a lot.  Nothing flashy, No ties, but good stuff!

PS

Although not much was said, thoughts of my father were ever present in my mind!  I miss you so much dad!

Great Advice!

My wife said the party was a big success and thanks to the advice of Dean, Crusty, and Maggie, so was my evening.  I had a great ride, a great burrito, and a great cigar! Thanks for the comments!

My Dilemma

My wife is having a party at our home this evening at 7 p.m. There will be plenty of hot food, hot women, and hot music, but I have been banned from the premises. Can you believe it! Not allowed to step foot in my own house! My dilemma: I don’t know what to do with myself after work. The boys are doing their own thing, my riding buddies are out of town, I have already seen the latest Indiana Jones movie, and my teeth have been flossed. What’s a guy to do?

A Great Investment

One of the fundamental purposes of this site is to encourage others to not only enjoy cycling, but life.  It is so easy for our lives to become only an existence, to live on cruise control, if you will.   We get so busy just trying to get through the day we often fail to invest any energy in much else.

So as we approach this holiday weekend, I hope you will make an investment in the people around you who ultimately make life; well, LIFE!

By…

  • really listening to your spouse or significant other.
  •  having a conversation with your kids.
  • helping a neighbor with a small project.
  • calling your mom.
  • connecting with a buddy you’ve lost touch with.
  • taking a solo ride.

Adjusting My Suspension and My Belt!

I think I will need to adjust my bike’s suspension  after today’s intake of not so healthy snacks!

1.  2 glazed donuts

2.  1 chocolate chip cookie (from a satisfied customer)

3.  1 Chocolate Milkshake

What Will The Church Folk Think?

A local watering hole with quite a biker reputation gives KTRSD a little love.  While driving to work on Saturday I stopped by and snapped a few pics. What will the church folks think?
