As riding season kicks into high gear, the series; “Women and Motorcycles,” will be taking a hyatis, but be assured the ladies will return in the fall.  The season’s final photo features a BMW R90S beautifully restored by this owner.  So without further adieu…

 

Supermodel Marisa Miller, voted FHM magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman on the Planet, says posing for Harley-Davidson’s 2010 calendar comes naturally, because she’s a rider herself.

“Everybody thinks that I was just sprawled across the motorcycle looking pretty,” the Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated swimsuit supermodel told On the Red Carpet. “I was like, ‘You know, I really ride. You know, I really do. It was cool to do something to get dirty and just ride and show people that I can do it.”

Miller, 31, posed for Harley-Davidson;s 2009 calendar and says she rides a motorcycle with her father all the time.

At least one wag doubts her skill, but that didn’t stop him from posting calendar shots here.

When a couple begins to date, both parties take great care to look their best when going to see one another.  As the relationship progresses this need for perfection begins to lessen until the couple gets married or moves in together and they both grow into slovenly heaps of human fat.

So it is with my series “Women and Motorcycles”.  The series began with beautiful, fair skinned women, with bodies so lovely it would make a grown man weep, but enough time has passed and now reality sets in!  So lay aside your fantasies of scantily clad women erotically sprawled on a custom bike as I give you a glimpse of the real world of women and motorcycles.

The practice of pinning up images of lovely women has been occurring since the late 1800’s, but the pin up girls reached the height of their popularity with the GI’s from WWII.  The woman in this photograph is stunning, but in my eyes the Norton steals the show.

We step back some 53 years for this photo.  Wonder how fast she climbed the hill?  Notice the guys in the background looking up the hill to watch another rider.

Just as motorcycles come in varying shapes and sizes so do the women who ride them.  Here’s one way to make a very old BMW look current.  Nice hat!

Women with an attitude, what’s not to love?  Here are six women celebrating their uniqueness, and their individuality.  There is something very seductive about this photo.  One of my favorites!

It’s Wednesday and that means the latest edition of “Women and Motorcycles.”  Thanks for all the positive and negative comments about this series.  I am often stopped as folks express how much they are enjoying this series and look forward to the updates each week.  On the flip side, a few people have accused me of exploiting women and perpetuating the negative stereotype of women and cycling.

I love the feel of this weeks pic, I don’t know the photographer, but really enjoy the richness that they captured.  Hope you enjoy.

I would love to spend the day riding with her, then sharing a pint at the local Pub.
