Airnov Healthcare Packaging now offers a more sustainable version of its DRICARD products to its customers.
DRICARD is a flat moisture absorber consisting of a calcium chloride desiccant laminated between layers of film. Similar to desiccant pouches, DRICARD is designed to maintain a dry packaging environment to protect nutraceuticals, foods and diagnostics from the adverse effects of moisture.
The new version offers twice the capacity in the same card size, uses less plastic and is printed with high contrast blue ink on a white background, meaning it requires 80% less ink to produce than the current orange DRICARD.
Nicolas Martinez, Global Product Manager at Airnov, said: “Airnov continues to improve its products in a more sustainable way, with the reduction in the consumption of ink and plastics used in our DRICARDS being just the latest example of our sustainability commitments.
The double thickness of the new DRICARD offers twice the moisture absorption capacity of its predecessor, while maintaining the same size and surface area.
Martinez added, “This new ability to double the absorbency in the same DRICARD size improves the performance of Airnov’s products, which crucially allows our customers to better optimize their packaging.”
Other key features of DRICARD include dust prevention, made possible by binding the calcium chloride desiccant into the laminate structure.
Additionally, the card’s rigid structure allows for high-speed automatic insertion by card dispensers or pick-and-place systems, while its flat profile is designed for use in applications that require desiccation in spaces small and narrow packaging. Blue on white printing is high contrast and high visibility where it is essential to minimize confusion with the final product.
The new product is available in a variety of standard sizes and can be adapted to custom sizes if required. It is also US FDA compliant for use in nutraceutical and food applications.
