New Delhi, June 10: A claim has gone viral that there was a major explosion at the Dasna factory in Ghaziabad in which 40 people were killed.
The complaint was repeatedly transmitted along with video showing a fire and huge plumes of smoke coming from a factory. The viral claim in Hindi reads: ‘Explosion in dasna factory in Ghaziabad now 40 dead’.
OneIndia has learned that this claim is misleading. A reverse search of the shared photo and videos led us to several reports indicating that this incident originated in Gujarat and not Ghaziabad. Additionally, the visuals also showed vehicles with a Gujarat license plate. The transport code for Ghaziabad is UP while in case of Gujarat it is GJ.
Republic World had June 3 reported that a massive explosion had started a fire at the Deepak nitrate plant in Vadodara in which 8 people had been injured. The report was also accompanied by a video of the incident.
A Twitter user had also shared footage of the incident. According to the Twitter user, the incident took place on June 2 at Deepak Nitrate Ltd at around 6 am in Nandesari GIDC, Vadodara, Gujarat.

Following the incident, the Gujarat company said, “We are monitoring the situation closely. The safety and well-being of all our employees, as well as those of the surrounding communities, is a top priority for us. All of our manufacturing facilities are equipped with best-in-class systems and equipment, which ensure environmentally friendly production. Our teams are already on the ground to facilitate all possible assistance. Our communication channels are open 24/7, and we will continue to provide updates and work closely with all relevant external stakeholders.”
Deepak Nitrate is a chemical manufacturing company that produces chemicals, dyes, agrochemicals, dyes, rubber, specialty and fine chemicals. The company has factories in Dahej and Nandesari in Gujarat, Hyderabad in Telangana and Taloja and Roha in Maharashtra.
So we can conclude that the virus claim is misleading as it comes from Gujarat and not Ghaziabad.
