
Three new additions are over 110 years combined of experience in the automotive industry

Frederic Massat, larry lyon and Edward Luibrandthree highly qualified executives with significant expertise in plastics, engineering and design within the automotive industry.

Biographical information
Mr. Frederic Massat retired as Engineering Director of Stellantis in December 2021 after 33 years in the automotive industry. Prior to Stellantis, he was Engineering Manager for India Hard Trim Engineering. Mr. Massat began his career at Chrysler as part of the development program of the Chrysler Institute of Engineering. After Chrysler, he was at Large Car Platform Interior Engineering, where he held various positions in the design and development of cockpits, interior trim and seats. Throughout his career, Mr. Massat has held various positions of increasing responsibility in various areas of automotive expertise, including launch management, floor consoles, dashboards and interior studio surface feasibility. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1988) and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan-Dearborn (1991).
Mr. larry lyon retired in January 2010 after 44 years in the automotive industry, most recently as Vice President of Core Components, Processes and International Engineering for Chrysler. He also served as vice president of the product team, responsible for small car product development and performance vehicle operations, which included the Viper and Prowler models. At Chrysler, his responsibilities expanded to include medium and large cars, minivans and crossovers. Mr. Lyon’s automotive career began in 1965 at General Motors in Flint, Michigan within the Buick Motor Division. He held various product testing and design positions, becoming assistant chief engineer in 1986. Lyons transferred to the Oldsmobile division in 1998, he was responsible for the engineering and planning of all Oldsmobile products, as well as activities of the Motor Sports divisions. He then moved to Cadillac’s luxury car division, where he eventually became director of engineering, overseeing the design, build, and development of General Motors’ full-size and luxury models. In 1997, the position was expanded to Group Manager with the addition of mid-size cars, sports vehicles and minivans. Mr. Lyons holds a BS Mechanical Engineering from Kettering (1970) and an MS Management from MIT (1984).
Mr. Edward Luibrand retired from Stellantis in December 2021 after 36 years in the automotive industry. During his career, he has worked extensively on the design, testing and processing of plastics. Most recently, Mr. Luibrand was responsible for product and engine system materials management, as well as Senior Materials Technical Specialist, which included responsibility for selection, design enhancement, release standards, approval and failure analysis of all thermoplastic and thermoset products used. for powertrain and chassis related areas for Chrysler. He started his career as a materials engineer working specifically on the development of elastomers. Mr. Luibrand’s responsibilities included selection of rubber standards for eyelets, seals and gaskets for drawings, drafting and consolidation of elastomeric material standards and development of closed cell elastomers, gasket materials cork and paper. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Wayne State from which he also holds a polymer engineering certificate.
