Israeli authorities deliberating on entry of tourists stung with Sputnik V: Reports

In a key development, Israeli authorities have planned to allow entry of people who have been vaccinated with Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine. A source in the Israeli government told Sputnik that the government had provisionally approved the entry of people vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine, however, this was not “legally approved.” Tourists vaccinated with the Russian-developed Sputnik V vaccine should be allowed to travel to Israel from November 15.

Tourists vaccinated with Sputnik V

A source told Sputnik that the order to allow entry into Israel for tourists vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine was approved at a meeting chaired by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov had started the process to allow tourists inoculated with the Sputnik V vaccine in Israel, Sputnik reported citing a source. The source further informed that the government is expected to allow people vaccinated with the Russian-made vaccine Sputnik V from November 15.

Additionally, the source revealed that Israel’s health ministry has yet to approve the order to allow people vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Sputnik V vaccine. In addition, people traveling from other countries to Israel are still required to submit serological tests, Sputnik reported. The Israeli administration has cleared people vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, AstraZeneca vaccine, Sinovac vaccine, Sinopharm vaccine, and Johnson and Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Israeli authorities could start allowing vaccinated tourists to enter the country in early November, The time of Israel reported October 21. Under current travel regulations, only tourists with limited capacity have been allowed into the Middle Eastern country, according to the report. In addition, first-degree relatives of Israeli citizens or residents are also allowed to visit the Middle Eastern nation.

Situation of COVID-19 in Israel

According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, 727 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday, October 26, bringing the total number of cases to 1,325,267. The total number of active patients in the country has reached 10,914. elsewhere, the health ministry informed that 237 people are still seriously ill. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, 6,224,851 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, while 5,720,398 were fully vaccinated.
