From time to time, we meet the best aftermarket automakers at the many events we attend. During Easter Jeep Safari 2022, we checked in with Superchips for a quick tour of the products on display. Well-respected for being a brand that makes what many consider to be the best tuning and calibration gear on the planet, these tech specialists are always great fun to chat with, especially when Jeep builds are the topic of conversation.
Since our interview and tour of the Superchips product portfolio took place while attending Easter Jeep Safari 2022, it was our responsibility to get the inside scoop on all the Superchips Jeep products on display.
There are a ton of superchips to consider if upgrading your Jeep’s electronically controlled components is your main intention. As the video below clearly illustrates, ease of installation, adjustability and attention to detail remain Superchips’ focus.
Choosing the perfect Superchips product for your Jeep
When it comes to Jeep-oriented tuning solutions, Superchips prefers to cover the full range of options.
We start with the simple yet super useful portable FlashPaq for Jeep, which remains the entry-level ECU tuning recalibration product of choice for many Jeep owners. Adding about 30 more horsepower to the wheels on average, with about the same increase in torque, makes the FlashPaq a smart buy.
Then there is the revised Pulsar online module for Jeep JL vehicles. This new Pulsar version now sports a more robust casing and all-new internal circuit boards. Pulsar also serves as a 3-in-1 technology upgrade, as it is an accelerator, calibration tool and programmer all in one. Superchips is quick to point out that this technology upgrade also has the capability to support select 5.7-liter Hemi applications.
Additionally, this offer from Superchips does not require you to ship or trade your PCM in exchange for an unlocked or reflashed unit. 100% plug-and-play, with zero downtime waiting for a kernel to return, this on-the-fly tuning module is a great solution to the age-old problem of having to send in a valuable piece of tech and then sweat bullets patiently awaiting his safe return.
Superchips Walks Xtreme Off-Road Through Their Jeep Products
Then there’s the smartphone-sized “TrailDash 3” (TD3) cabin controller. Superchips TrailDash takes the best of every tuner Superchips offers, then encapsulates it all in a dedicated touchscreen. Pitch and roll displays, off-road displays, and various other handy technical displays are well presented. You might notice that this data will already come on higher-level modern Jeep vehicles, but the TD3 adds a whole lot more. You can access detailed tracking, vehicle monitoring capabilities, as well as on-the-fly tuning capability.
Just note that for model years 2015-2021 an unlocked PCM will be required. A PCM exchange from Superchips is included with the purchase of every TD3 device. Each unit also comes with Wi-Fi functionality for quick and easy downloads and connectivity.
This high-resolution touchscreen also serves as the command center for Superchips’ line of EAS accessories. Several pressure sensors, temperature sensors and even the brand’s EAS reversing camera can be integrated into the touch screen. Another fun feature we found is that drivers can toggle the lighting with their TD3 monitor. A series of specially tuned switches Superchips offered to support virtually any aftermarket lighting solution.
Finally, there’s Superchips’ Pulsar XT, which is intended for use with 2.0-liter Jeep vehicles. You know, because sometimes proving that moving isn’t everything is a lot.
Superchips: More Than Just a Jeep Thing
As a certified subsidiary of the Holley Group, Superchips has reinvested heavily in its off-road offerings in recent years. This has led to the development of products like Holley’s iNTECH Air Induction System, which uses what’s called a “slip joint housing” to eliminate the need for hose clamps and all that noise. On newer Jeeps, this intake produces approximately 12 horsepower, while maintaining an OEM-like appearance and a flush fit and finish.
For off-road rig owners who don’t have a Jeep badge, there’s the FlashCal gear calibrator for truck tire size. Like its Jeep variant, it is more of a speedometer calibration tool for newer vehicles running on solid rubber. FlashCal for Bronco also helps with tire size calibration. This is a newer standalone version of this suite of technology tools.
The Amp’d Throttle Booster 2.0 has its own dedicated phone app for easy monitoring and calibration, which covers a host of newer vehicle applications. Superchips also displayed its regular FlashPaq alongside the Jeep option, a device that handles just about any platform “The Big 3” offers.
Finally, don’t overlook the in-cab DashPaq+ programmer and monitor to keep specs at eye level in your rig. Much like its Jeep look-alike, this unit incorporates the full range of Superchips tuning tools. You can expect access to vehicle diagnostics, digital readouts, and dynamic, easy-to-navigate menus. Just note that this product requires a complete overhaul of the ECU. Once complete, a myriad of tuning solutions and calibrations are available to enhance your vehicle experience.
