The Ministry of Commerce is urging people in the country to buy and support Cambodian products amid the economic recovery from Covid-19.
The ministry organized the 15th Cambodian Vegetable and Fruit Fair and a 4-day campaign to buy Cambodian products in Siem Reap from June 16 to 19.
Chhuon Dara, State Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, said that this campaign to buy Cambodian products will help strengthen the local production chain, create more job opportunities locally by bringing in knowledge, skills and a good experience to Cambodian producers. It will also promote Cambodian products to compete with imported products circulating in the Cambodian market.
He added that supporting and buying more Cambodian products is part of the Cambodian economy’s recovery from the pandemic. Dara also encouraged farmers, producers and small and medium enterprises in Cambodia to strive for more innovation, create more new products by making the packaging more attractive to better serve the local market.
Nak Neron, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, said that currently Siem Reap has major products such as rice, cassava, soybeans, rubber, handicrafts, processed products such as prahok, sausage, etc.
The Deputy Governor hopes that the 15th Cambodia Vegetable and Fruit Fair will now benefit many growers and visitors to improve their business operations and competitiveness.
