
Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that since November 2021, it has been supplying its BluEarth-XT AE61 and BluEarth-XT AE61 Z・P・S*1 tires to Toyota Motor Corporation for use as equipment tires Original Equipment (OE) on an all-new Lexus NX, the first PHEV. The PHEV model is equipped with tires of size 235/60R18 103H.
BluEarth is a global YOKOHAMA tire brand based on the concept of being “environmentally friendly, humane and social.” The BluEarth-XT AE61 incorporates the core design and material technologies of YOKOHAMA’s BluEarth brand tires. The tire’s superior ride, comfort and environmental performance make it an exceptional touring tire. Additionally, a new tread pattern improves the tire’s wet performance, wear resistance and stability, contributing to the all-new NX’s high-quality ride.
BluEarth-XT AE61 Z・P・S is a new EMT*2 compliant run-flat tire. In addition to providing a smoother ride than previous EMT-compliant run-flat tires, the tire’s reduced weight has improved its contribution to vehicle fuel efficiency.
Under its current mid-term management plan, Yokohama Transformation 2023, Yokohama Rubber is intensifying its efforts to develop new high value-added products and strengthen the brand strength of its consumer tires, including its global flagship brand ADVAN and the GEOLANDAR brand of tires for SUVs and light trucks. Yokohama Rubber is also focusing on adopting its tires as original equipment on high-end cars, which is a testament to the company’s excellent technologies.
